I am Ray Marsden the Fire & Security Manager of Greenslopes Private Hospital the largest private hospital in Australia, 670 bed and still growing.

I served as a Fire Officer in Brisbane for more than 20years and am very aware of the dangers of fire & smoke and am always looking for someway to provide a safer work environment. When I read about EXIT signs that when fully charged “3 minutes under normal lighting conditions” and will glow in the dark for 10 to 12 hours, I was hooked.

We have in excess of 300 EXIT signs in the Hospital that cost approximately $29,000.00 annually to maintain now with a one off purchase of self illuminated signs that require very little maintenance and are expected to glow internally for at least 6 years, the savings will be enormous. They also have the advantage of being energy efficient with no greenhouse gas emissions.

As our existing exit signs fail we replace them with the self illuminated signs over 50% have already been replaced and the feed back received has been great, when Qld Fire & Rescue Service conducted a recent Hospital survey they commented how impressed they were with the glow in the dark EXIT signs.
